The Jaite Company Paper Mill was constructed in 1906, demolished in 2006, and was located in Northeast Ohio's Cuyahoga River Valley at longitude -81.56368, latitude 41.28547.
Jaite is notably the first listing in the Maproom Systems Registry of Historic Sites, being recognized in 2002 as both historically valuable and increasingly threatened with destruction by natural elements and human negligence. By following the sectional links to the left, you may examine our efforts to preserve its memory.
A brief history of the mill has been provided, a detailed sectional tour of the mill area as it looked in 2002, a group of aerial photos, maps, and floorplans, and finally, photographs of the demolition work which, as of Spring 2006, is still underway. All of these sections have been cross-referenced with hyperlinks in the text, so that visitors may better understand connections based upon the relationships of time periods, physical locations, and functions. Navigation Note:When following an embedded link in the text, use your browser's 'back' button to return to the original page, as links generally will take you to a different gallery and thus the buttons on that page are solely for moving within that specific gallery.
It is our hope that, as time progresses, further historical materials, oral histories, and photographic documentation will be added to this archive; If you have access to items which you think might be of interest to us, please use our contact page.
Unless otherwise noted, all text, photography, and site design for this project is provided the Maproom Systems Director of Operations.
